1. What's Cooking?
The other day I saw a friend of mine I had not seen for ages. Whilst catching up with each other, I told him about my website, and he became interested. I gave him the website address, and he said he would check it out.
Days later he called me to let me know he had checked the site out and that he liked the recipes, and told me he did not understand the Weight Watchers point system, nor how to use the calories, kilo joules and amounts of fat.
Whilst Weight Watchers members would know how to use the recipes and the nutritional information to their benefit, I then figured out that non Weight Watchers may not be familiar with how things work in low fat nutritional regimes.
With that in mind, I decided to focus in providing that information in this issue of TSCD.
This issue has 2 Lite Articles: "The Tao of Weight Watchers", and "Carbs or No Carbs".
I was also planning to include a new section entitled "Ask the Skinny Chef". However, time has been scarce due to work, but I will include such a section in the near future.

2. The June Members' Only Download
In this issue I wanted to include the first downloadable gift for Members Only.
It is a spreadsheet that helps you determine whether you are overweight, and how many calories and grams of fat a day you need to lose weight.
However, I was not able to do it just because my server does not allow xls files to be uploaded... bummer!
I'll work around this and bring it to you in the near future. Please, accept my apologies.

The Tao of Weight Watchers
Have you ever wondered how to lose weight using my recipes? In this article, I discuss the way the Weight Watchers system works, to give you an idea of how one can use the low fat recipes in my site to lose weight in a healthy way.
Weight Watchers inspired me to change my eating habits, lose weight, exercise and, indirectly, learn to cook healthy and incredibly delicious food.
I'm not affiliated in any way to the organisation, and I am not in their payroll. In fact, I am no longer going to Weight Watchers, and I am not even suggesting that you should join them. But I am sharing this information with you because it will explain how the system worked for me, and why, and - after getting appropriate medical advice - you may wish to consider it too.
If you would like to know the relationship between low fat recipes and weight loss, you should consider learning about the Weight Watchers' system. This article would be a good starting point. (from somebody who tried it and made it work). ;-)

Carbs, or No Carbs?
And if you have been paying attention to the diet trends, you may have heard of the famous Atkins diet, which is a low carbs regime that promises quick weight loss without hunger. Michael Lewis has written a very informative article discussing the benefits and dangers of low carb diets in general.

The 30 Seconds Difference
Many emotional reactions can be controlled by the "delay" technique. Eating, shopping, and responding in anger to what we perceive as a threat are examples of behaviour that this technique can help you control.
Somebody once told me that, whenever somebody upsets me, I must count till 20 before responding. That was good advice that has saved my bacon several times.
Well, you can apply the same technique whenever you are about to eat something you shouldn't. Count till 20 or 30.
The delay may determine whether you are about to eat as an emotional response to something, or as a result of physical hunger.
If you are really hungry, then eat. But eat right. Choose one of my low fat snack recipes. ;-)
