Usually mornings are the most stressful time of the day, at least for me. You have to get kids, husband (and maybe yourself) out of the house on time, while making sure that everybody has their school and work stuff, lunch packages, and is properly dressed.

How in the world are you supposed to prepare a nourishing healthy breakfast for everyone? Fruit smoothies come to your rescue :-)

Our easy low-fat and low-carb smoothie recipes are quick to prepare, loaded with vitamins and minerals, and they taste heavenly!

Healthy Smoothie Recipes

To save even more time making your healthy smoothies for breakfast you can prepare everything the night before and put the sliced fruits and veggies into the fridge. Just take them out in the next morning and throw everything into the blender.

If you make smoothies more often than once a week, you're well advised to buy a strong and powerful blender: this saves cutting time, because you can virtually throw the complete fruits and vegetables into your mixer.

These recipes can even help you to burn fat and lose weight (with the right ingredients), and they are also a great solution for in-between meals and snacks.

Hawaiian Silk Recipe

Did I mention that I love bananas? And most kids do as well. The added benefit is, that you don't have to add sugar, because the bananas have enough natural sweetness.
If you use soy milk or coconut milk, this is a Vegan recipe.

1 cup soy milk

2 cups pineapple juice

1 banana

1 tablespoon maple syrup

Ice cubes

1 tablespoon coconut essence

Nutritional Information:

Serves 1

Cal 298

KJ 1252

Fat 3.2 g

Carbs 54

Protein 12.2

WW 4.5

This is what you do:

Cut the banana and Pineapple (if you use a fresh one) into piece.

Put all ingredients into blender. Blend until frothy consistency is reached!

This recipe originally called for coconut milk, but I substituted it for coconut essence. This gives you twice the flavor and zero fat. A better choice if you want to lose weight.

But if you like the coconut flavor, you can also use 1 cup of coconut milk instead of the soy milk. Then it's up to you if you want to add essence or not.

Banana Oatmeal Shake

If you didn't know it, your body needs protein to work well and burn fat. These healthy smoothies for breakfast have plenty of protein and little carbs.

That prevents the dreaded "sugar spike" which lets you go on a short high and then fall back into the "10 o'clock hole", giving you cravings for more sugar.

1 cup milk

1 packet instant oat meal, regular flavor

1 banana

1 cup orange juice

Nutritional Information:

Serves 1

Cal 477

KJ 2003

Fat 4.2

Carbs 44

Protein 11.4

WW 7

This is what you do:

Cut banana in chunks.

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Cover and blend on high speed for 1 minute.

Tip: Substitute the milk for skim milk to reduce the fat and points.

Extra Tip: Use protein powder instead of oatmeal to boost your fat loss.

Biotrust Low Carb Protein is an all natural supplement and has the flavors of vanilla and milk chocolate. Vanilla blends especially well with this banana shake recipe.
