Vanilla chicken is a very famous recipe from the Reunion Island. This island is famous for it's bourbon vanilla, that was one of the main agricultural products produced here (besides sugar cane) in the 17th century.
Due the abundance of vanilla, the spice was used in many traditional
meals. It might at first seem strange, because we tend to connect this
spice with sweet dishes. But you'll be fascinated by this healthy dinner
recipe. It tastes heavenly!
We usually serve it with rice, but vegetables (especially green beans or mushrooms) work very well, too.
Chicken is a low fat meat as are all the other ingredients in this delicious recipe. Additionally, the vanilla beans provide a very special and original taste. Make sure to buy free-range chicken if at all possible. The meat is much healthier and it also tastes better.
By the way, some studies have shown, that vanilla extract helps with weight loss. One more reason you should try this recipe :-)
